Midori Ookami

Okay, yeah, I changed the title of my NaNoWriMo novel, because "Midori the Green Wolf" sounded way to generic and boooring, like a kid's novel or something...
Also, I'm still working on it a bit, but here's a slightly dramatic version of my novel's basic summary:

An evil fog is engulfing the beautiful land of Nippon, but its origin is unknown…
On one seemingly ordinary day, while his older brother and sister are out training, Midori the green wolf is playing by himself in the Yama Inu forest, when he accidentally bumps into a pack of rival warrior wolves from the Yami Plain, and they seemed to have been specifically looking for him; to destroy him. He narrowly escapes the troop of powerful warriors, but outside of the confines of the forest is just as dangerous; the field is covered in utter darkness! He witnesses the sun itself become rent asunder, before he collapses and loses consciousness. A long time later, a fairy named Taiyou finds him and she manages to awaken him and explains that she’s the messenger of the great sun goddess, Amaterasu, sent to find and rescue Midori himself. She also says that, after she had departed on this quest, something had happened to Amaterasu—something terrible— and the land is in peril because of it. Only Midori can save his homeland from the oncoming chaos, and in order to do so, he must find three parts of a sacred weapon called the Golden Mirror of Takamagahara, found throughout the land, and make it whole before he can smite the evil once and for all. Together, he and Taiyou set off on a long, epic journey to banish the darkness and to obtain the divine powers that they seek, meeting many friends as well as enemies along the way. And Midori, after discovering that his much of pack was annihilated and captured in his absence, also has the resolve to also find his two missing siblings and avenge his family.
But who or what could be the cause of this sudden calamity? Could it be a mere wind and plague, brought with the mysterious warriors? Or is it something far worse than ever imagined…?

Voila. Lemme know if it needs correction anywhere... I do believe I need to edit it to make it sound a leeetle more interesting, though, so keep that in mind. XD
I'm still thinking up a design for my novel's cover image, too, which I still plan on painting.
And... this novel is nearly complete, development-wise!

See you, bro.

  1. Just out of sheer curiosity, but on average, how many days does it take you to finish a novel? The writing part, that is.

  2. Hmmm, good question! It really depends, though.
Outside of NaNoWriMo, I don't normally give myself a deadline, so by judging the file dates of a few of my finished novels, I'd say it takes me about 5-6 months.
You see, I have quite a few half-finished manuscripts, so that's why it's hard to estimate the exact time it takes me to actually complete one.
